Week of April 8-12th

Report cards went home last week for the third nine weeks. Congratulations to the students who earned A/AB/B Honor Roll! There is one more quarter to go!

Field day for K-2 is Wednesday, April 10th. We will be outside most of the day so please dress your child comfortably so that he/she may enjoy all activities. You may send a water bottled labeled with your child's name and also money for the ice cream truck.

We have early dismissal Friday, April 12th at 11:30am. If your child's transportation changes for that day, please email or send a note notifying us of the change. Spring Break is April 15-19th. Classes will resume Monday, April 22nd at 7:30am.

MAP testing will be the Tuesday and Wednesday after Spring Break. We have been preparing all year and this is an opportunity for the students to show what they have learned. You may use this site  (Prepdog) for extra practice at home.

Thursday, April 25th is our field study to Riverbanks Zoo. Please view Parent Portal to ensure that you have paid for the trip. If you would like to chaperone, let us know, especially if you would like to ride the bus. There is only room for 1 chaperone to ride the bus. All other chaperones will have to sign in through Lobby Guard at the school and drive there. The cost is $17.

Our Spring Dance is scheduled for Friday, April 26 from 6-8pm. Click here for more details.

Week of April 1-5th

I can not believe that we are now in our last nine weeks of school! This year has flown by! Only two more weeks until Spring Break! We will start new units in Science and Social Studies as we begin the fourth quarter of school.

Market day was awesome! The students worked hard on their goods/services and most of them sold out! They were also able to experience the opportunity to buy goods from the other classes.

Please remind your child to be on his/her best behavior at all times, especially during instruction and small group. This is when new concepts/strategies for learning are being taught and it is crucial that he/she is focused and pays attention. We want to make sure we maximize our instructional time together to receive the highest growth in student achievement. Thanks for your support.

I have noticed some students are forgetting to bring their reading book to school. We use our reading books daily and it should be returned to school daily. Please remind your child to make sure he/she has placed it back in his/her bookbag after completing assignments at home.

The students did a great job producing their severe weather videos! We were able to view them in class.  I have completed my full two weeks of teaching responsibility; however, I am still teaching  ELA and Social Studies.

Week of March 25-29

Market Day is Wednesday, March 27th. All business plans that were submitted were graded and returned. Your child should have a display/booth including the name and cost of the good or service. He/she should also have about $2.00 in various coins in a pouch/ziplock bag to make purchases as we visit the other classes. (Something to hold the items purchased would be helpful as well.) You may click here to view the Market Day information, including the rubric.

There is still time to order your child's yearbook for the 2018-19-school year!  You may go to https://www.strawbridge.net/ then enter the code 100391 to place your order.

Week of March 18-22th

Business plans for Market Day were due Thursday, March 14th. Please ensure that your child turned in his/her plan so that it may be reviewed and graded. Your child may begin working on his/her sign and items in preparation for the event on March 27th. If there are any questions, please let us know.

We have an AVID visit (grades 3-5) on Thursday which will slightly effect our schedule. Our lunch time will remain the same at 10:20; however, our related arts schedule will be from 8:25-9:10 and our recess will be from 12:05-12:25. (This change is only for Thursday.)

Please speak with your child about his/her behavior in the classroom throughout the day. Often times, grades suffer as a result of inappropriate behavior and not paying attention during class instruction. He/she should make sure he/she is being kind and respectful to other classmates and adults in the classroom/school.

If you have information, money, fees for me, please ask your child to give it to me. Sometimes it is overlooked in the child's folder if I do not know about it. If you send me a message/email saying you are sending something, I will be sure to ask your child to give it to me.

Forms went home about yearbook orders. You may go to https://www.strawbridge.net/ then enter the code 100391 to place your order. Please let me know if you have any questions.

This week I will continue with full teaching responsibilities in the classroom. We will work on severe weather research. I can not wait to see the presentations at the conclusion of the unit.

Week of March 11-15th

Our CiCi's trip was great! The students had an opportunity to view some tools used in making pizza as well as tour the restaurant. They were also allowed to make pizza that they shared as a group. To top it off, they gave us brownies to go and we ate them during snack time! We LOVED the pizza and brownies and enjoyed the overall experience!

Thanks to all who came out to support Kalli and Antonio during the Killian Pageant. They did an excellent job representing the class.

Information went home in the communication folders about yearbook sales. The cost is $25. You may click here  to order your child's yearbook using the school code 100391.

Market Day information also went home your child's folder. Hopefully you have had a chance to review the information. (You may click the link for the details.) We discussed the information and requirements in class. Please note that slime is not permitted. The business plan is due on Thursday, March 14, 2019. If you have any questions, please let us know.
