We have seen some difficulties with students rushing through their work and not following directions. This is causing them to get lower grades on those assignments. We have stressed to them the importance of reading AND following the directions. Hopefully, a reminder from you will encourage them to take their time, follow directions and do their best. Thanks for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated.
The first week of the Vocabulary Tic-Tac-Toe went well. On Mondays, the Vocabulary Tic-Tac-Toe will be issued. Students will write their vocabulary words on notebook paper and place them in the back of the sleeve. Students should complete one activity per night using the vocabulary words. These assignments may be written on notebook paper and placed in the back of the sleeve. On Thursdays, the sleeve containing all three activities should be turned in to the homework basket. Please do not write on the sheet because it will be used weekly.
~From Ms. McCloud
Hello Killian Parents and guardians! I've really been enjoying my time in Ms. Watson's classroom, getting to know the students and learning alongside them. I am in my senior year at the University of South Carolina right now. Every other week, we have a senior seminar class. For our seminar, we visit different elementary schools around Columbia and try to get to know the community a little bit better. Our seminar will be held at Killian Elementary School on Thursday, March 2, 2017. WE are hoping to assemble a panel of three to four parents to speak about your experiences as a parent of an elementary school student and to give any advice you have to future teachers from a parent's perspective. It will be held in the media center at 3:30. It is a very informal question/answer format and would last no more than 15-20 minutes. There will be light refreshments provided. If you are able and would be willing to come during this time, please email Ms. Watson at fwatson@richland2.org and I will send you some additional information. Thanks so much in advance! I look forward to meeting you and continuing to work with your student!
