Week of August 29-September 2

We had a fabulous first full week of school. We are continuing to learn rules and procedures as we adjust to our second grade curriculum. The beginning is somewhat of a review but the content information will begin to get more difficult as we progress through the school year.

Reading comprehension and spelling tests will usually be given on Thursdays. Various classwork assignments are given throughout the week. Grades are usually updated by Tuesdays. (This gives me the weekend to grade all assignments and have them entered into the gradebook.) You should be able to view your child's grades through Parent Portal.

Reading logs are issued on Mondays and due the following Monday. STAR homework is assigned on Mondays and due on Thursdays. This gives your child time to complete the assignments at your leisure and return them by the due date. Please ensure that your child has his/her name on the papers he/she is returning. (Several homework assignments have no name on them.) When math homework is assigned, it is due the following day.

I will begin Class Dojo points on Monday. You should have received a parent letter with your code and your child's code to sign up. This is a great opportunity to "check on" your child throughout the day. I may also post pictures of things we are doing in class. The boy and girl with the highest number of points will get to go to the treat box on Friday.

Sharing days will begin this week. Your child will share on his/her designated sharing day. (The days were outlined in the letter sent home last week.) Please make sure your child brings something that fits in his/her bookbag and that it is not an electronic device. Pictures, books, and favorite notebook to write in at home are examples of some things that have been shared.

There is no school Monday, September 5th in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Classes will resume Tuesday, September 6th at 7:30am.
